A&R

An Artist and Repertoire agent, or the more commonly known A&R rep, is someone who seeks out to discover unknown artists. They are usually hired as a consultant by a record label or similar entity and works as a liaison between the two.

As an A&R Specialist, I aspire to discover unknown musical treasures.  I don't carry with me the usual checklist and follow the typical formula of what is "star material".  I see what is unseen.  I have the ability to look at and hear an artist and see them at their full potential, even if they do not see it themselves.  Talent can be found in the most uncommon places.  And some artists possess talents that they are unaware of or simply dismiss or underestimate the capabilities they have.  Those artists are always overlooked.  I am fortunate enough to be able to see right through them to discover their gifts and uncover their true potential.  It's like knowing a secret no one else knows.
